Fact, Fun & Fillips: July 19, 2010

Wheee . . . . . All the new things, projects that pop up around the old town – while we’re, FFF, busy nosing around elsewhere . . . . .!

Among the ongoing work is an attractive and practical job at the Land of Lincoln Credit Union (former Central Illinois Public Service/Ameren headquarters) 206 South Locust, across the street from the Masonic Temple.  It includes pouring new concrete in the form of drainage in front, sidewalk and driveway work.

To all at the CU, Sharon (Mrs. Gary Smith), manager, looks really sharp as it continues. Also appears the building will receive a new face lift with work being done on outside walls.

Nice improvement to downtown along with local barrister Bill Farr’s work on his office building spaces, NE corner, Locust and Third.

Also at the edge of the business district, a 2-story dwelling we think is owned by the Joe Coleman organization, alley between Oak Street and Locust, has been attractively remodeled.

Today’s column is a selection of random thoughts and suggestions – so bear with FFF . . . . .

So now to a partisan political conversation that we chanced to hear, “them vs. us, or vice-versa,” and you can put yourself on either side you wish.

It was about political stances on the national scenes.

We are presently into not only a relative short short time for a new generation of  politicians, or an administration, to get moving. Some 18 months now we believe.

But, it seems to FFF, and is showing through that no matter when voting and power shifts, to us, so does blame.

To FFF it seems it’s quite a bit more pleasant for the outgoing crowd! For, to FFF, it seems, the newly elected personages inherit all the past negativity. Then most recent holders of the offices are free to “disappear” into the “sunset” and usually do unless for unusually vile activity while representing their constituents, or voters of the opposite party. That is unless it is advantageous in the future as possibly vote getting “fodder”, “food” for a negative campaign.

Sort of like erasing Tuesday’s chalkboard assignment – leaving the new class to start fresh and new and forgetting the bad. Too bad we all give way this time after time and accept. But, to partly rid ourself of this self-guilt, we’ll “chalk it up” (no pun intended) to “experience!”

If we’re far out on this, drop a line . . . . . We’d appreciate it. Or drop by. We like to talk too!

You can thank whoever you want, but thank someone for the intellect and brains given to those who have come to our aid, and continue to be equipped to rally from time to time from situations we find ourselves helpless inserted into.

Thus far eco the world saving solution to our “oil leak” catastrophe.

And there are no words to express it otherwise. Except perhaps they need a “Joe Coleman” to come to their aid Pana style, as we do every so often!

So Long.
