Severe Thunderstorm Rocks Pana This Afternoon

ABOUT 1:30 P.M. THIS afternoon, Monday, July 19, a severe thunderstorm rolled through Pana and Christian County.

Reports of tree limbs and power lines being down are still being reported as of presstime today. So far, no injuries have been reported.

The severe thunderstorm produced winds of over 60 mph which took down limbs and trees. With power lines down throughout the area, some power is out to various sections of town.

In the top photo, wind caused the outside storage area of R. P. Lumber to blow over. The roof material landed near PBI Inc. trucks.

In the middle photo, a large tree limb broke off a tree and landed on this house on Franklin St. at the intersection of Route 29 on Pana’s northwest side.

In the bottom photo, a city work crew cuts up a downed tree on Chestnut Street, between Second and Third Streets.
